چکیده

ABSTRACT Introduction The squat is an exercise that widely used for the development of strength in sports. However, considering not all sports gestures are vertical, it important to investigate effectiveness propulsive force stimuli applied different planes. Objective main purpose this study was determine influence maximum isometric (MIF) exerted on starting blocks over performance 5, 10 and 20-meter sprints. Methods Seven high-level male sprinters (mean age ± SD = 28 5.77 years) participated study. variables were: a) MIF squats (measured using a functional electromechanical dynamometer [FEMD]), b) time 20-m sprints c) jump height by test). For data analysis, Pearson correlation performed between variables. criteria interpreting r coefficients were as follows: trivial (<0.1), small (0.1−0.3), moderate (0.3−0.5), high (0.5−0.7), very (0.7−0.9), or practically perfect (>0.9). level significance p < 0.05. Results There first meters sprint (5-m: -0.84, 0.01). there -0.22, 0.62). Conclusion correlates with athletes. In addition, use FEMD provides wide range possibilities evaluation controlled natural movement. Level evidence IV; Prognostic Studies - Case series.

Postactivation Potentiation Biases Maximal Isometric Strength Assessment

Postactivation potentiation (PAP) is known to enhance force production. Maximal isometric strength assessment protocols usually consist of two or more maximal voluntary isometric contractions (MVCs). The objective of this study was to determine if PAP would influence isometric strength assessment. Healthy male volunteers (n = 23) performed two five-second MVCs separated by a 180-seconds interva...

Heritability of maximal isometric muscle strength in older female twins.

The purpose of the present study was to examine genetic and environmental effects on maximal isometric handgrip, knee extension, and ankle plantar flexion strength. In addition, we wanted to investigate whether the strength of these three muscle groups shares a genetic component or whether the genetic effect is specific for each muscle group. Muscle strength was measured as part of the Finnish ...

Task complexity and maximal isometric strength gains through motor learning

This study compared the effects of a simple versus complex contraction pattern on the acquisition, retention, and transfer of maximal isometric strength gains and reductions in force variability. A control group (N = 12) performed simple isometric contractions of the wrist flexors. An experimental group (N = 12) performed complex proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) contractions cons...

Effects of mechanical vibration applied in the opposite direction of muscle shortening on maximal isometric strength.

Most studies about human responses to mechanical vibrations involve whole-body vibration and vibration applied perpendicularly to the tendon or muscle. The aim of the present study was to verify the effects of mechanical vibration applied in the opposite direction of muscle shortening on maximal isometric strength of the flexor muscles of the elbow due to neural factors. Conventional isometric ...
